CHRISTIANSTED, St.CROIX, USVI

Christiansted was estblished in 1733 and served as the capital of the Danish West Indies. It is also home for the  Christiansted National Historic Site, which  commemorates Danish colonial lifestyle.  Established in 1952 the compound hosts six historic buildings:
? Fort Christiansværn, which served as a jail the Danish West India and Cuinea Company warehouse where slave auctions were held until they were abolished in 1803
? the Church of Our Lord Sabaoth Steeple Building
? Customs House
? the Scale House
? and the Government House which hosted the first Danish governors

Christiansted is the biggest town in St Croix island. It is peaceful and relaxing with beautiful beaches and sunset. It used to host one of the 1st Ironman races in the world  70.3 Ironamn  St Croix  (discontinued) famous for its Beast Climb.

Chicken everywhere

One think I never understood was the number of chicken ? freely roaming around in the heart of downtown ?!!
