RIDING IN ST CROIX

Riding in St Croix, Virgin Islands – home of a tough 70.3 Ironman renowned for the “Beast” ascent (0.7 mile / 600 ft elevation / 14% average gradient with 27% at the steepest point). The climb is followed by a winding steep downhill with some nasty bumps at the bottom, then more short hills (~ 10-15%) and plenty of headwind along the way. The run is as challenging as the bike, the reason why this race used to be a Kona qualifier. St Croix has magnificent scenic rides, not much traffic, warm caribbean climate, and rich cultural heritage. Worth a trip!
