“They say knowledge is powerful; I say knowledge of one’s self is the greatest power. Many a time, we feel helpless, fearful and doubtful, holding life circumstances as the sole culprit of our misfortune. Blaming life does not change matters and helplessness is definitely not the problem. The real issue is when faced with adversity, some of us find it difficult to fight because in this fast paced world, we spend too much time learning about everything around us and little about ourselves. And that’s a concern because the less we know about who we are, our weaknesses and strengths, our physical potential and our mind’s capabilities, the more vulnerable we feel when coping with hardship, and the less armed we are to fight and survive.

There is an African proverb, which says “when there is no enemy within, the enemies outside cannot hurt you”. So befriend yourself, trust and have faith in yourself. Get equipped, not by chance, not by luck; get equipped by knowledge of yourself. Our darkest fears and insecurities live in our inner worlds, but so do our unrecognized strengths. Whip your fear into courage and summon your strength to break your unseen shackles of self-doubt, and never cave in to the specters of your doubts. If you manage to handle misfortune and turn it into opportunity, imagine how well you can turn an opportunity into success

Henry Ford once said “whether you think you can or think you can’t – you are right”. Stay optimistic, believe you can because YES YOU CAN, and think positive, life is like a cactus filled with thorns yet as beautiful and as colorful! “
